Supreme Court Overturns Roe v. Wade
Washington D.C.: We are devastated by the recent news of our country's Supreme Court overturning Roe vs. Wade, ending 50 years of federal abortion rights. This 50-year-old decision has protected reproductive rights for women in our country to include women in service. We can’t deny the effect this will have on female service members around the country who are now bound by the laws of the states where they are stationed—19 of which are expected to ban or severely limit access to abortion. SWAN is working closely with members of pro-choice not-for-profit groups and concerned members of the House and Senate to identify ways to ease the personal and financial burdens the changes the Supreme Court decision in Dobbs V. Jackson Women’s Health Organization place upon military women.
