Service Dogs

Service Dog Strong

Our Mission

We are a Maine 501(c)(3) that funds adoption and training costs for Service Dogs and Survivors. This includes spaying/neutering. We match the appropriate dog with their Survivor and place the team in a 20-week training program together. This training transforms the dogs from ordinary, rescue dogs into highly trained, "medical equipment," offering both Survivors and their Service Dogs a new lease on life.

We pair rescue dogs with Survivors of sexual assault and military sexual trauma (MST) who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and facilitate the training to transform them into Service Dogs.

K9s For Warriors is ending veteran suicide and returning our Warriors to a life of dignity and independence. We rescue and train shelter dogs to be paired as Service Dogs for Warriors with service-connected Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, and/or Military Sexual Trauma.

Train a Dog, Save a Warrior Inc.

The Train a Dog Save a Warrior (TADSAW) program serves the veteran, the family, and the community, by providing the warrior with a K-9 rescue ‘Battle Buddy’ and the training and tools needed to become an accredited TADSAW Warrior/Service Dog Team.

TADSAW additionally provides for the training of a Medical Alert Service Dog for any veteran’s immediate family, the spouse or children, surviving with compassion fatigue, secondary PTSD, or any other mental health issue diagnosed while the veteran was deployed or on active duty.

American Humane

American Humane’s Military program provides lifesaving service dogs to veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS), protecting America’s hard-working military dogs and recognizing their heroic contributions to our country. They also help reunite retired military dogs who are left overseas with their former handlers and support military families in need with healing therapy animals.
